Historical bike share data

This resource provides time-series records of bike share station status changes, organized by network and month, in Parquet format. It covers bike share networks supported by CityBikes.

Filenames look like {year}{month}-{network}-stats.{format}, e.g., 202411-bicing-stats.parquet for a parquet file of Bicing bike share from November 2024.

This endpoint is experimental and subject to change. The data is provided as-is, without any warranty as to its accuracy or continued availability.

License #

This dataset is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0. You may copy, share, modify, and build upon it, including for commercial purposes, provided that you give appropriate credit to CityBikes as described below. Derivative databases must be published under the same license.

This license applies to CityBikes’ database and its compilation of the data. It does not grant rights in the underlying data itself, which is obtained from independent bike-share operators that may impose their own terms or restrictions. CityBikes does not grant any rights on their behalf so you are responsible for determining whether any additional third-party terms apply to your use of the data.

Attribution #

Projects or analyses using CityBikes data must include the following acknowledgment: "Bike-share data by CityBikes contributors and available from https://data.citybik.es." In addition, when CityBikes data is used in a paper, the following citation must be included: "CityBikes contributors. (2026) Bike-share data retrieved from https://data.citybik.es."
